I purchased a relatively inexpensive signal generator that outputs two?coherent signals that can be frequency, phase and amplitude controlled.? It is also an arbitrary waveform generator.? I have been able to generate some very interesting waveform patterns? on my oscilloscope in the X/Y mode and also in the X/T mode.? I would also like to demonstrate a radio frequency mixer with another?couple of generators. The mixer output will be displayed on a spectrum?analyzer.? This will give insight to how a mixer works in almost all of our ham?radios and most other receivers and transmitters.? I hope to see a good turnout next Tuesday.? Rigol Oscilloscope 2. Rigol Sprectrum Analyzer 3. Seglent Signal Generator 4. FY 6800 Signal Generator? 5. Various coaxial jumpers, attenuators and adaptors.? Tests to be conducted:? 1. Demonstration of Lissajous patterns using the FY 6800?signal generator and oscilloscope. Since many wave shapes?can be generated by this generator, many interesting?patterns can be viewed.? 2. The characteristics of a frequency mixer (common to?all non SDR radios since the 1920s) will be demonstrated?with both signal generators and the spectrum analyzer.?The particular mixer being tested is a passive, balanced?mixer which has many good traits. Both the good and bad?traits will be discussed.? 3. N4DLW is planning on bringing a band pass cavity that?needs to be tuned so as to eliminate interference to a?couple of his UHF rigs. We will adjust the unit to the?proper frequency and attenuation parameters to hopefully?satisfy his needs.?
