I have constructed two simple transverters for the amateur band at 24 GHz. They use an IF of 70 cm. I have not checked the range yet but the power is very low (a few 10's of microwatts). If anyone is interested I will bring the units to AREU next month for a check out and general discussion on what materials are required and how they work. Tony Stone w4tas at gte.net
