Hi Dan,
The Amateur Radio Electronics Union (AREU) is an informal meeting of amateur radio operators
that has been in existence for about 20 years.
I did not gather from your note that you were a ham radio operator. So far all of us are
ham radio operators but "electronic questions are electronic questions" and if you have them
we will help.
In case you didn't know, amateur radio operators are licensed by the Federal Communications
Commission and are required to pass several tests to obtain their license,
The meetings are informal and several topics may be discussed simultaneously. We have a
great time and enjoy topics about all types of electronic devices.
Most of us are "old timers" that grew up in the vacuum tube era are are well seasoned in dealing
with high voltages. We will be happy to answer your questions and provide support for your project
to the best of our ability.
We meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Bell Shoals Baptist Church. Directions are given
in the monthly AREU meeting notice.
If you have questions please address them to the AREU reflector or my personal E-Mail address
below. .

Subject: [AReU] New member questions
Hello everyone my name is Dan Conway I live in Plant City and have recently got into building my own speakers and amps. I am about to partake on building a SET Tube Amp (my first tube amp build) for a pair of high efficiency Klipsch Cornwall speakers rated at 99 dB SP. What I am looking for is someone I can bounce questions off of and maybe hang out with who has experience in this area as well as learn about the safety aspects of staying alive while working with the high voltage amps that can kill you if you are not careful. I am a 55 year old adult. Thanks for any help or referrals you can offer.Dan ConwaypsI have moderate soldering skills (I have built a pair of speakers including the crossovers and small SS amp.I am aware of the high voltage of these amps and will look for some pointers from yall in regards to that.
