I have some interesting stuff (to me at least) that I intend to bring to AREU
this Tuesday.
I have built two transverters for the 10 GHz band, one for the 1.2 GHz band and
one for the 2.3 GHz band.
I am now working on another transverter for the 1.2 GHz band with about 12 watts
output.
I will bring the power amplifier for the 1.2 GHz,12 watt transverter under construction
as it is pretty much home brew.
The most interesting project (to me at least) is an amplifier for 5.7 GHz with
about 6 watts output. I have discovered some 5.8 GHz linear amplifiers on
E-Bay that will put out about 3.5 watts each with 20 mw input. They only cost
$25.00 each!!!!!!!
I have purchased 4 of them so far but one of them "bit the dust" for some unknown
reason (probably my bad).
I also found two hybrid combiners at a good price to pair two of these amplifiers
and use the other good one as the driver.
I can get 6.5 watts out with 1 mw of drive with a 5.7 GHz pipe cap filter between
the driver and final for a clean output.
As time and energy permit, I would like to get some microwave activity going in
the Brandon area.
If anyone has any ideas to promote this idea, please let
me know and get started working on it.
Tony
If you are bringing a program, please let me know so I can
advertise it.
