Hi all:
I have long wondered it there was a "local" (HF) frequency
around here.
I have just run into two HF frequencies that are more or less
local, one is local to the Plant City, Valrico es Brandon area,
it is: 28,4150 kHz/s. It is not very busy, but I keep hearing
local traffic on this frequency, including several OMs that I know.
As it turns out one of my very good HAM friends that obviously
spent (or spends) too much time working 11 meters is frequently
on 28,4150 kHz/s and thanks to freedom of speech or some such
nonsense cusses up a blue streak when he is moved.
Therefore I (and my 12 year old boy scout son that wanders
in and out of my den without my knowledge all of the time)
needs me to find a new LOCAL 10 meter frequency for we
Plant City, Valrico, Brandon and Riverview and hereabouts folks
to rag chew upon. (and hang out in general) If my friend
moves to our new frequency I will tell him it is time for him
to move back where he came from.
*Anyone on this list server with an/any idea/s?*
The other is a frequency used by a good number of Florida HAMs.
It is 7230 kHz/s. It is generally busier in the morning that it is in
the afternoon,* but I was given a S9 when I was running 50 Watts with a
9' wire es a 9' wire on the ground as a counterpoise by all 3 HAMs, one
outside of Leesburg es one each in Ft. Lauderdale es St. Austine.
(using SSB, whatever that is?)
(I was operating with the 9' wire hanging over the edge of Tampa bay)
* populated mostly with nice retired folk, like me. Just rag chewing!
