I now have equipment available to put beacon transmitters on
several bands on a temporary basis. The plan would be to transmit
for a few hours on a scheduled time on one of my off days
(Saturday or Sunday).
Coordination would take place on the Brandon VHF repeater.
The bands that could be tried out are 6 meters, 2 meters, 70 cm, 23 cm,
13 cm and 3 cm.
I would plan on horizontal or vertical polarization depending on the
capabilities of the area participants on 6, 2 and 70 cm. The power on
6 and 2 meters and 70 cm would be about 10 watts.
The 6 meter frequency would be 50.070 MHz.
The 2 meter frequency would be 144.289 MHz.
The 70 cm frequency would be 432.305 MHz.
I can put 5 or 30 watts on 23 cm (1296.2 MHz), 2 watts on 13 cm
(2304.2 MHz) and about 0.1 watt on 3 cm (10368.2 MHz).
The 23 cm, 13 cm and 3 cm signals would be aimed at the antenna
towers near Riverview because I am in a group of trees. Any signal
you would receive on these bands would probably be reflections
off of these towers.
Anyone interested in participating, please send me a message giving
your particular band of interest and your antenna preference.
I will talk about the proposed test and the equipment I have available
at the next AREU meeting.
