I have been working on a couple of frequency standards for my microwave counter and signal generators.
One is based on a Trimble Thunderbolt GPS disciplined OCXO (oven controlled crystal oscillator).
It uses a 10 KHz GPS derived signal to phase lock a 10 MHz OCXO to approximately the same accuracy
as a Cesium clock. This unit will be my “standard” for all of my measurements.
The other standard is based on a double oven OCXO manufactured in Russia. It is mounted in a small
thermally insulated aluminum box with a small adjustment potentiometer accessible from the outside
of the box.
I use a switch mode power supply with heavy filtering on the output to keep the switching frequency from
appearing on the output of this oscillator.
I have a detector circuit made from a Mini Circuits Laboratories double balanced mixer that compares
the two oscillators and gives a DC voltage output corresponding to the phase difference of their outputs.
I have measured .05 Hz difference between the two units after a two or three hour warm up. When in
their final set up, the double oven unit will be continuously powered and will be checked weekly by powering
up the GPS disciplined unit.
If anyone has a 10 MHz standard that they would like to check for accuracy bring it in. The output needs
to be about 5 mw so I will bring in an amplifier to boost up the signal if necessary.
If anyone has any requirements regarding frequency measurements let me know and I will bring other
equipment to try to help you out.

Meeting Information:
It's almost time for another fine AReU meeting: Next Tuesday
November 5, 2013 we will meet at our usual place and at our usual time.
So remember:
11-05-13 NEXT Tuesday is our next monthly AReU meeting day.
REGULAR PLACE Bell Shoals Baptist, Church building "C"
REGULAR TIME 7 pm RC, 7:30 meeting begins
Be a part of the best technical HAM club hereabouts, a place to
meet with fellow HAMs to share experiences, get help from more seasoned
HAMs about everything from operating, equipment and to get help with your
repair problems.
(with no demands upon you and no pressure or red tape of any color)
So join us in South Brandon at the Bell Shoals Baptist church building "C"
North most building behind the first church building at 7 for RC or 7:30 for
the program, when we have one. If you have a program ready contact me.
BTW: Everyone is encouraged to post any HAM related questions that you
or your friends have right here any time in the month. That is what
this reflector is for, that and these meeting notices.
