[AReU]

About two weeks ago, while I was still at work something happened, apparently my house got struck
by lightning, or something. Several electrical items dropped dead at the same time, including my
favorite alarm clock, the one with he green florescent display, two air conditioners, and the RF
amplifier (18 dB of gain) for out TV antenna system.
They all had a common failure, the primary of a small transformer was open. The air conditioners,
both cheep window units built in China, one with an open primary in it's control transformer the
other with something bad in the GFI unit at the end of the power cord. (in the plug)

I am very happy that the house wasn't set on fire, as a few have been around here lately.

"Lightning out of the blue" refers to lightning that strikes when here is no sign/s of a
lightning storm, perhaps without any clouds, from "the blue sky." Both of my radios were plugged in
and connected to their antenna, my HF connected to my MFJ "Hi Q loop" and the two meter to the
collinear antenna the highest point on my house. My wife reported lightning and thunder about an
hour later from the South.
