Walter R Farley K4QE SK
LAKELAND - The Polk County Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out who killed a 93-year-old man some time between 5 p.m. on New Years Eve and 9 a.m. today. Deputies say Walter Farley shared his Indian Heights Drive home with his son and his son's wife. The couple left yesterday evening to spend New Year's night out and stayed over in a hotel. This morning, when they got home at about 9:15, they found Walter had been shot to death in the home during an apparent home invasion. Neighbors say Walter was an upstanding member of the community, a member of the Kathleen Historical Society as well as a ham radio operator very well known in the area.
