Steve (W3DDC), please subscribe me to the STARC list.
I believe I repaired the receiver problem with the VHF repeater today. A
panel had fallen from
the ceiling and knocked the power leads from the preamplifier. Since it was
not working, it was
just acting as an attenuator which was responsible for the reduced
sensitivity.
I also replaced the battery back up batteries (four 87 AH units weighing
42.6 Kg each,
do the math).
I sweated my ass off but it saved my insurance company the cost of a
treadmill test. If I ain't
dead yet, I'm good to go!!!
The replacement batteries were generously donated by the STARC folks and we
appreciate them greatly.
Because of my infrequent attention to all of my electronics hobby, the new
batteries were
"flat". I have overcurrent and overvoltage protection on each of them so
they should
charge up fine in a few hours.
I apologize for the long time of failure to repair but I just ain't as free
to do these
things as I used to be (if given enough time however, the job will get
done).
I appreciate your patience.

Tony
