[AReU] July, 2007 meeting

During our rag chew session Fred N3BUL mentioned:
the AReU club is now 10 year old.

After the rag chew we had a long discussion about
rechargeable batteries/cells, focusing primarily on
lead acid cells and their care and also several
precaution's relating to the many other rechargeable
types. In many cases each needing it's own charging
procedure.
The main focus of our discussion was mostly related
to using a `lead acid' type across a regulated power supply
and our radio/s, the load. As I mentioned before if your
power supply has "over Voltage protection" you must put
a fuse or circuit breaker and the lead to the battery,
if not, WHEN the SCR fires the battery will burn up/out
the OVP circuit board up in the power supply.
I enjoyed my time at this meeting very much.
