Hi Everyone,

We had another great AREU meeting this month and attendance is
also up and constant.

The topic of the June meeting was using the spectrum analyzer
and a system analyzer in tuning up cavities for repeater use.
Tony, W4TAS, and Tom, K4PQD, brought in the test equipment and
demonstrated and educated us on some of the ins and outs of
their usage with some practical results. Tony also showed us
the current state of his ongoing Gigahertz transceiver project.

I also received the benefits from the group knowledge on
identifying the function and benefits of an older power supply
that I had laying around.

One other event occurred initiated by Greg, N6ZUE, un-be-known
to him but one that I think we should continue on with in future
meetings. That is the "Give Away, or Free Table". Greg was
kind enough and thinking of others when he brought in some extra
material that he didn't have any more use for and offered it for
free to who ever wanted it. I think that is great!

We all have scrap boxes and stored junk that nobody probably
would want to pay for at hamfests or flea markets and most
likely would be destine to the trash can. But you know how the
saying goes, "One persons Junk is another persons Treasure".
So, keeping with that line of thinking in mind I am suggesting
that from now on we institute a "Free-Bee Table" at our meetings
to accommodate such items.

Anyone who has items that they would other wise be throwing out,
bring them to the meeting and offer them to the other members.
Just several main rules to keep in mind. 1. All items to be
offered will be FREE. 2. First come first serve. And 3. Any
items not taken by the end of the meeting MUST be taken back by
the donor and either brought back next meeting or disposed of
accordingly.

I'm going to search my scrap box and see if I can't unload some
excess baggage and at the same time hopefully make someone else
happy to receive it. Maybe you can do the same. And if you
can't do it this month, maybe next time. I hope this will
become a regular feature that will make our meetings even more
enjoyable and beneficial.

OK, so on to our next meeting. Dan, W2NDP, has volunteered to
give us a demonstration of RTTY. From what I hear Dan has a
setup that will actively demonstrate the process as well as
educate us on its details. Hopefully Dan or someone else can
also shed light on interface equipment like the "Rigblaster" and
similar products that are currently used for this process.

Keep in mind the next meeting will NOT be on Tuesday because
that is the 4th of July Holiday. The meeting has been moved to
THURSDAY, the 6th of July. Same place and time but THURSDAY
instead of Tuesday just for July.

So, mark your calendars and check your scrap boxes.

Hope to see you all at the next meeting!
