On this first day of 2006 I would like to wish all of you fine folks a
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
In my opinion, 2005 was less that fabulous but I am still looking at the
green side of the grass (as Earl-KC4UTW-used to say).
I managed to get 5 weeks of vacation this year and am looking forward
to attending the Dayton Hamvention again with some old friends.
I might remind everyone that the first meeting of AREU is this Tuesday.
I am bringing a couple of portable antennas built by Rod (KC4MMR) that
emulate the Buddy Pole. This was stimulated by Ed winning the Buddy Pole
at the Tampa Hamfesst. The antennas are very effective and very
portable. I have two examples built in slightly different ways. There are
a number of variations in construction methods that allow the material
pricing to be greatly reduced.
I'm sure that everyone will be interested in building one. They would be
great for antenna restricted areas also. You will not believe the
performance
of these antennas!!!!!!!!!!!
Also in January is the annual dinner meeting/installation of officers for
the
Brandon Amateur Radio Society. Please plan on being there and bringing
your spouce/friend, etc. I am not aware of the location because I did
not attend the December meeting but I'm sure it will be announced on
this refector and the Monday night net.
Again, have a very happy new year!!!
P. S.---Remember, It's never too early to start thinking about Field Day,
2006.
