[AReU] AREU Meeting Next Tuesday

The time is almost here for another AREU meeting. I'm afraid that I have
not been too busy in the shop. Ed said the other day that he picked up
a 2 meter filter at the TARC Fest last weekend so, if he will bring it, I 
will bring the spectrum analyzer and we will look at the response curve. I 
also
have a 2 meter commercial filter that we can look at as well as a home
brew 6 meter strip line filter. I have never taken a look at the 6 meter 
filter
so it will be interesting to see what it looks like. I built it many years 
ago
(more that 25) to filter the output of an old Swan 250. That old rig was
a 100 wattt (+ +) output vacuum tube rig and it was rough on TV's,
audio equipment, tape machines and whatever you had in the house. The
filter didn't help much but at least I could say that the rig was legal.

I obtained the plans for a small horn antenna suitable to illuminate a small
18 inch DSS dish from the August edition of QST. I built one and I must
admit that it isn't pretty. I will mount it on one of the DSS dishes I have
out back and bring it along for show and tell. The horn is built for WR90
wave guide but I plan to build another one for WR112 waveguide. The
latter one will be used in conjunction with a 4 port waveguide switch and
an 18 DB gain amplifier to make a fairly potent 10 GHg station. I don't
know who I am going to talk to yet so someone else needs to get serious
pretty soon. I will give you all the help you need to get a station going.

If anyone has any problems they would like to discuss please let me know
via the reflector. If there is any test equipment that could be brought to 
the
meeting to help you, we will bring it along.

The meeting will be at the Bell Shoals Baptist Church at the junction of
Bell Shoals Road and Overhill. The meeting room is at the North end of
the church and starts at 7:00 PM.
