[AReU] AREU Meeting Next Tuesday

The July meeting of the Amateur Radio Electronics Union will be next 
Tuesday, July 05, 2005 at
the Bell Shoals Baptist Church. Socializing starts at 7:00 PM and the 
meeting starts at around
7:30 PM. The meeting room is at the North end of the church complex on 
Overhill Street.
Directions can be obtained from the Brandon VHF repeater on 147.165 MHz (+), 
with
a 136.5 Hz tone just before and during the meeting.

If anyone desires directions from a specific location over the internet , 
just send me a
request and I'll do my best to get you right to the door.

I will have equipment for the 10 GHz band (3 cm wavelength) as follows.

I will finally show my 3 cm station and will have two stations operating for 
a demonstration.
I will have several pieces of test equipment for the microwave bands that 
are very basic
and very interesting including a slotted line.

A discussion of wave guides will coincide with the demonstration and several 
types of
"launchers" will be tested. In addition I will have several pieces of 
specialized wave
guide and I will show you how to make a perfectly good wave guide for 3 cm 
from
3/4 inch copper water pipe. I don't know if I will have time to make a 
demonstration
unit but I will try. I also have a couple of 4 port wave guide switches with 
"launchers"
attached to one of them. I will hopefully have a "home brew" 20 db horn 
antenna built
by then also. If not I have a commercially built one on one of the 3 cm 
transverters.
