I managed to mount the 12 GHz, divide by 8, prescaler in a mini box
with a power supply last night. It worked the first time. I am directly
counting the output of a 10481.250 MHz oscillator. The output of
the prescaler that is going to my Radio Shack counter is 1310.1566
MHz. This gives me the capability to accurately set the LO frequency
for a 10.368 GHz transverter. I hope to have an accuracy of about
1000 Hz. This will be more that adequate for narrow band operation.
I ordered an evaluation board from Hittite Corporation containing the
prescaler and all other components including the input and output
coaxial connectors. It operates from 5 VDC and worked the first
time I fired it up. It costs slightly over $100.00. Where else could
you get a 12 GHz counter for under $200.00. That is $100.00 for
the Radio Shack counter and $100.00 for the prescaler.
Anyone interested in obtaining one of these units just let me know.
