[AReU] AREU Meeting next Tuesday

The next meeting of the Amateur Radio Electronics Union 
will meet next Tuesday at the Bell Shoals Baptist Church. 
The get acquainted session will begin at 7:00 PM and the 
meeting will start at 7:30 PM. Directions to the church 
will be available on the Brandon repeater (147.165 +, 
136.5 Hz tone) if necessary. 

I just finished converting the second local oscillator for 
a 10 GHz transverter. It was a bear. I started at about 
9:00 PM last evening and it is nearly 2:00 am now. I could 
not get the output to come up to the proper value. I finally 
had to take the entire unit apart and drill some holes so 
that I could get to the output filter to tune it while it 
was operating. 

The first one was a breeze. I don't know why this one was 
so hard. They were set up on the same frequency to start
with. 

I will bring them to the meeting as well as the parts for a 
second 2304 MHz transverter that I am building. 

It seems that I will need to build two of any of the 
microwave transverters to have someone to talk to. 
So far I have completed two 1296 units, one 2304 
unit and the second 2304 unit is close to completion. 
The 10 GHz units are a work in progress but the 
successful operation of the second local oscillator 
is a major step toward completion. 

I am looking forward to seeing a bunch of folks at the 
meeting.
