I am simply stunned by the large number of your e-mail replies I received
when I asked how to get my Kenwood TH-25AT two meter handheld to generate a
subaudable tone to access a repeater
You are sure a helpful and friendly bunch of hams.
I finally got the settings made so I should have been able to access the
Brandon repeater on 147.165 with the required subaudable tone of 136.5 Hz,
but I could not get the repeater to come up.
I did this while my Icom 2AT was monitoring the Brandon repeater, so I am
certain my problem is simply not a bad receiver in my Kenwood handheld
because I could not hear myself on the Icom handheld.
I even drove up a hill to try to bring the repeater up today.
My handheld's display shows the transmit frequency of 147.765, but the
repeater was not heard.

Perhaps my handheld does not have the required TSU-6 unit installed, but my
display did show that I had programmed it to transmit the subaudable tone of
136.5 Hz.
So I am not sure if I should believe my display or not.

I have listened to the output of my Kenwood handheld on my Icom handheld on
147.765, so I know I am transmitting RF.
I am certain my Icom 2AT does not have subaudible tone encode capability, so
I hoped I could use my Kenwood handheld to access the Brandon repeater from
my home, which is 1.5 miles southeast of Bloomingdale Avenue on
Lithia-Pinecrest Road.

If any of you want to bring equipment to the January 3 meeting so we can see
if my handheld actually transmits enough power and the subaudible tone,
please let me know and I will bring my Kenwood handheld with twocharged
batteries so we can test it out at the meeting.
Thanks in advance.
I really appreciate all your good advice.
Look forward to seeing you all at the meeting Jan. 3.

Thanks

Happy New Year,
Bob Haynes
