THE BARS FALL PICNIC HAS BEEN CANCELLED!!!!

After finding out that Davis Park is flooded and will not be available until
at least November and after several futile efforts to find a suitable venue,
the decision was made to postpone the picnic. Some of the parks in the
Brandon area were being used as debris transfer points to rid us of the
hurricane mess and others did not have restrooms. Others were deemed to be
too far from a hard surface for the infirm of us and still others did not
have seating facilities or picnic tables. We continue to search and the
picnic will take place. We don't know when or where at present. If anyone
would like to visit any of the local parks and survey the area for a
suitable site we would appreciate it. If there are any suggestions of a
suitable site we will check it out. There was mention of Medard Park out at
Turkey Creek. We have been there many times for picnics and Field Day. It is
pretty far out but it is a nice place. Reservations will need to be made
however and time did not permit this. Medard Park was abandoned because of
its remoteness to the Brandon area but it is a good site.

I am really disappointed as I was looking forward to a great time but it
will still happen. There will be adequate time to plan a great outing and
the weather will be great for another couple of months.
