The March, 2004 meeting of the Amateur Radio Electronics
Union will be held at the Bell Shoals Baptist Church this Tuesday
at 7:00 PM.
If anyone needs directions, just E-Mail me and I will send them
to you. If you get lost just tune to the Brandon VHF repeater on
147.165 MHz (+ split with 136.5 CTCSS tone) and there will
be someone waiting to direct you in.
If anyone has questions about equipment, grounding, propagation,
antennas or any other ham radio subject just come on down and
we'll try to get you an answer. If the subject is foreign to us, we will
try to get back with you with a suitable answer.
I plan to bring some parts for my proposed 1296 MHz and
2304 MHz transverter projects. I will also bring a couple of
2.4 GHz antennas that we will characterize as to frequency
response. I plan to use a loop yagi on 1296 MHz but will probably
be using a "BBQ Grill" dish for 2304 MHz. I will bring a couple of
dishes and we will run a return loss test to see if they will go down
to 2304 MHz from the 2400 to 2500 MHz range. I will bring a
2.4 GHz helix and a 2.4 GHz patch antenna for testing also.
I have a 6 watt amplifier for 2.2 GHz that I obtained from
Tom (K4PQD) that I am working on. I will bring it and we can
see what some early solid state equipment for this frequency looks
like. I am hoping to get this unit to work as a class "B" linear amplifier
on 2304 MHz. It is presently a two stage class "C" amplifier.
I am also looking for some local folks to talk to on 1296 and
2304 MHz.
How about it?
Anybody interested in building some equipment for these bands?
Hope to see you this Tuesday, March 02, 2004.
