Hope you folks are planning on attending the BARS
meeting next Thursday.

Ed (W7LGD) will be officiating and it will be his last
official meeting as president at least for this round.
He has been the president for three years and has been
a great leader of the club.

He has been responsible for making the activities of
the club more exciting and challenging. The BARS
treasury has become larger thanks to his efforts
and the efforts of others. We have had great Field
Day scores and all of the BARS activities have been
well attended.

I'm not sure if everyone knows the "real story" but
the things that happened during Ed's tenure as president
did not happen because old Ed sat around on his butt for
three years. It has involved a great deal of his time and
efforts, travel expenses, loan of equipment for club
activities and just a general presence on the repeater
and around the town. I can't think of many days when Ed
has not been on the repeater or has accomplished some task
which benefited the club. Ed and other members have also
participated as members of the Florida Gulf Coast Amateur
Radio Council in putting together the Tampa Bay hamfest.
In addition to this Ed has been hampered with health
problems but that did not stop him (didn't even slow
him down much).

My thanks go to Ed as well to the past presidents of
BARS for making the club what it is today -- an active
and vibrant organization that contributes to the enjoyment
of its members, the proliferation of the ham radio hobby
and to the well being of the community.
