I'm looking forward to the next meeting which will be August 06,2002.
That is not this coming Tuesday but the following one. I am getting
started early this month because I have a specific item to discuss
at the meeting. I sent an E-Mail to Ron (KA4INM) requesting that he
bring his spectrum analyzer with tracking generator to the meeting.
I have acquired a circulator for use with the Brandon VHF repeater.
It will hopefully help to reduce the interference we have been
experiencing intermittently. The interference penetrates the CTCSS
decoder on the receiver which leads me to believe that the spurs
are being generated in the output stages of our own VHF transmitter.
A circulator will prevent any outside signal from entering our
transmitter and therefore prevent this interference. I will bring the
circulator to the meeting and we will verify the performance of the
unit at the Brandon repeater frequency and discuss the workings
of a ferro-magnetic circulator (yes, it uses magnets). I may bring a
few refrigerator magnets and we will see what an external magnetic
field does to the response curve.

I also have a 4 stage helical resonator that was given to me. I would
like to run a frequency vs. amplitude response curve on this unit also.

Looking forward to seeing you folks at the AREU meeting on the 6 th.
of August.
