Well, at least I got some responses. That means that this place is not
completely dead yet.
I am in Black Mountain, NC. I had gotten away from participating actively
with any ham activity for a few years. I had my radios stolen out of my car
so I just gave a lot of it up. I was a SIGINT analyst in the Army and just
progressed from there. I also spent 10 years as a paramedic/rescue tech as
wither a volunteer or paid. When I moved here I went and talked to the fire
department and was told that I had to live in the town for 18 months before
I could join. I explained that all my certs would be dead by then and I was
not going to start over. At the time I was an instructor for ACLS, CPR,
PHTLS, PALS, paramedic, and a few rescue courses. Way to much work to start
over for a volunteer job. Besides, to much has changed since then.
I am just getting involved back with ARES. As far as I know, we are not
doing the test this October. Good luck this weekend. Those drills can be a
lot of work and fun at the same time.

Hi Jay,
Welcome to the group. I'm Steve N1XC from Stuart, FL. You are correct -
not much traffic here that's for sure!
Are you participating in the ARRL Simulated Emergency Test coming up in
October? The group I volunteer with, Martin County ARES/ARES, Inc., along
with the other 11 counties in the South Florida Section are having our SET
this weekend. Along with the SET we are also having a Incident Command
System training and testing. Promises to be a busy weekend!

I was going through the archived messages on this list and noticed that the
last messages in the archive were from June 2006. Has nothing been sent
since then?
