At a planning meeting for the SW Ohio MS150 tonight, it was mentioned that the
New Orleans chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society has just reopened after
rebuild/repair.
It was also mentioned that the MS150 bike ride, scheduled for October, will be
held: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/MSBike-Louisiana.asp .
The local staff seems to be believe that the ride will have a difficult time
finding participants, supplies, a route, and volunteers. They were specifically
referring to "skilled" volunteers such as transportation, communications, and
First Aiders.
I think that bombarding the area with volunteers without coordination is just
like doing it during a disaster...bad idea...
So -- for the department I have an interest in -- are there amateur radio
group(s) that coordinates communications for this event? Does the group(s) have
enough equipped volunteers to support the ride this year?
