The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a program of the ARRL. If there is not an ARES group in your area, the best place to start is by contacting your ARES Section Emergency Coordinator, Jerry W7SAR (his call sign @arrl.net). The process usually begins with the appointment of an ARES Emergency Coordinator, who then forms a group. Only the ARES Emergency Coordinator is required to be an ARRL member.

Subject: [Ares-races] ARES
We have a group into Races here in Cedar City, Utah, but would like to also get involved in Ares. What do we need to do to get a Ares group up and runnung? Are they registered with ARRL or what? There are a number of groups in the northern part of Utah, but not in the area here. Tnx in advance for info, 73 de Ken W7KBM
