Earlier this month I wrote about an 80-10m multi-band antenna in a sloper configuration used at our EOC. It is mounted above the annex roof 70+ feet high. The problem was the 80m leg of the dipole had a sky high SWR--11 to 1 as opposed to the other bands. We ended up trimming 12 inches off the outboard side of the affected dipole. Strung the antenna back up in sloper fashion as before and the SWR came down to 7 to 1. With the analyzer still in place I started lowering the dipole for more trimming. When the dipole was down to a more or less horizontal form, the SWR got down to 3:1! The SWR on the other bands were unchanged, with the 40m leg giving us a 2:1 reading.
We will leave the dipole like that for the time being.
First, thanks to those who responded with comments and suggestions.
Second, I knew I can always count on the ham community for input and help.
