I have been requested (recruited?) by my daughters, my granddaughters and
my wife to solicit amateur radio communications support for the Avon 3-Day
60-Mile Breast Cancer Walk to be held in 13 cities across the country
between now and October.

My wife and my two daughters have registered to participate in this event
in the Atlanta area. In registering for the event, my older daughter, Kat,
who is very knowledgeable about amateur radio communications support of
such events, asked if they had amateur radio communications support. She
thought, perhaps, since her mother would be participating in the walk, that
I might be interested in helping out with communications. The person she
talked with was not aware of amateur radio's public service communications
support capabilities but was very interested in learning more about it. A
couple of days later, I was contacted by a representative of the group
responsible for organizing the event, Pallotta Teamworks. I offered to try
to find someone in each area who could (would) organize amateur radio
communications support for this event. By the way, I'm located in
Bellbrook, Ohio (apx 10 miles southeast of Dayton).

I already have contacted someone in the Atlanta area, and decided to use
this reflector as a starting point to spread the information to the other
areas. Thus, I'm trying to find someone in each of the areas listed above
who would be interested in organizing such amateur radio communications
support or who would refer me to one of the local ARES units that is active
with public service communications. You can find more information about
this event at:
http://www.bethepeople.com/avon_3days/landing_3day.htm

Please let me know how you can assist me in finding a local point person
for this event. I will then have the Event Representative contact you or
other such person and communicate directly.

Below is a list of the cities and the event dates. It's almost too late to
get involved with the first 2-3 events but someone may be interested in
making contact with this year's event and conside getting involved next
year. Here are the dates:
