Have collected most all the pcs needed for the SCR 283 over the years as well as for the GF 11 RU 16.
Back in 1971 when a Novice at the old Aeronurotic Ford , as we called it, swap, I bought a complete GF/RU set with all the coils for $8...it was under the swap table.
It looks like a student at Stanford back in the day had bought the set NIB as the s/n's all match. He had built this very nice 1" angle iron frame set up to mount and support the entire set including the dynamotor. One nicely made complete set up....oh and connectors even then not easy to come by...he used copper tubing cut and cloth covered wire soldered to the cut pcs of tubing to attach to all the connectors and did a very good job of it.

Was going to disassemble it from the the frame it was mounted on, stupid kid..and thank goodness I didnt...so up it went into the loft in the garage where its been for 50+ years.
Will get it back down cleaned up.. bearings cleaned up and repacked and get it back on the air.
I've collected all the pcs to make up a complete GF/RU ...and not harm this set up that was so nicely made..

It occurs to me that there might be an opportunity to perhaps create a group that focuses on pre-war radio equipment.  IMO, it is a niche that is underserved, and it seems that many questions go unanswered on most WWII oriented forums.  The interwar years saw a great deal of innovation, but production numbers were comparatively low, so interest follows volume, I guess.  Any opinions?

Jack, I'm curious as to why Dave asked that question as well.

I will be starting a new thread on the SCR-183/283 in a few days.... need to finish my reading / research first.....

Yes, I do.

I have both an SCR-183 and GF-11/RU-16 put together.

I need to take some pictures of them, but it will
take a week or so to get to it.

Just curious as to what prompted the question?
