This sounds like what I went though several weeks ago when I was looking for a PRC 74. I would get an email that look legitimate. The scammer sending the Email would use a hams callsign that he found in QRZ, then create a Gmail address that would like this “msmithw2jmu.gmail.com” he would than create his QRZ page it have the correct postal address of the ham he stole callsign from on this new QRZ page. This new QRZ page would contain nothing else in it.
I had 8 scammers that tried this on me. I sent a postal letter to each ham’s listed in FCC web site to alert them that a scammer was using their callsign.
Just be aware!

I received an ?invite? from the email of a ham who I haven?t seen in over 50 years for a ?private luncheon? a few weeks ago..smelled like spam
and deleted it.  It appeared to be from his published email address on QRZ..
