I'm going back and picking up a project that got pushed to the back of the stack some time back, getting a R-28 and
T-23 on our local 2 meter A.M. net. The receiver is working great, but the transmitter is having some issues. I had
re-stuffed the bathtub caps and tested them before installing them. Someone had replaced the B+ by-pass caps
C-314 and C-322 with postage stamp caps. When you hit the PTT the dynamotor spins up but after a second it
bogs. Doing that a couple of times and the B+ fuse R-326 burned out. I suspect that the postage stamp caps aren't
standing up to the HV. They should be rated at 1500v but I doubt these are. Ive ordered replacement micas but in the
mean time should I be looking at something else? What gauge wire can I rewind R-326 with to get it happening again?
tnx + 73
