No. Not Electrolux. It was something like Avery, but that isn't it either

One of the most obvious differences is that  the better-quality makers' chassis were all deep-drawn whereas the cheaper one was folded from a flat piece of thinner aluminum. You could see that clearly at the corners.

I'll do some digging and take.and post some photos. I think I still have one of the crappy ones. I was somewhat surprised when I examined it.

Maybe Electrolux? (vacuum cleaners..)

Or maybe Lucas Electric? (The only thing they ever made that didn't suck was a vacuum cleaner...)  ;o)
I'll let myself out....

I will set a BC-453 made by, say, Western Electric or Stromberg beside one made by this other outfit, and believe me, you can instantly see the difference in quality.

I wish I could remember the name of the company.

They may have "met specs" but, just barely.

I am surprised that Ken sez BC-453 from different mfgrs vary in quality. This, honestly, is a surprise to me, and i invite input from anyone on this.
I am somewhat more knowledgeable abt the AN/GRC-9 radio, which had different manufacturers, but aside from some knob style variations, the quality seems very stable and equivalent. So i thought everything that got the Signal Corps stamp of approval was equivalent.
