I will set a BC-453 made by, say, Western Electric or Stromberg beside one made by this other outfit, and believe me, you can instantly see the difference in quality.
I wish I could remember the name of the company.
They may have "met specs" but, just barely.

I am surprised that Ken sez BC-453 from different mfgrs vary in quality. This, honestly, is a surprise to me, and i invite input from anyone on this.
I am somewhat more knowledgeable abt the AN/GRC-9 radio, which had different manufacturers, but aside from some knob style variations, the quality seems very stable and equivalent. So i thought everything that got the Signal Corps stamp of approval
was equivalent.
