Decades back i talked to a Seattle fellow who was radio gunner on TBM flying off Gambier Bay. He told me CW ( at least in this size aircraft ) was only used for 'CW practice'. The pilot used voice VHF otherwise. He also told me about listening to Tokyo Rose on the parked plane's ARB receiver.
