I recall reading in one of the schematics collections books sonething like "makes a good Novice radio". A friend found one in Chicago and had it trucked out to me in Seattle. Only thing, water had dripped on it for years and the tuning was frozen.
I was disgusted at the work required and the size in the crate was daunting. I gave it away. I think the recipient just had it out in his yard and you can imagine the last chapters in its story.
I recall now George Babits had a JT-350 and he even offered to bring it with on a driving trip into WA state. I at the time declined. When i enquired later about it, maybe after my disappointment with the Chicago one, he said he had taken it
apart.
I think it would be kinda fun to use but way too big for me. I think kind of like a much bigger Hammarlund receiver with transmitter built in. Probably pretty darn rare now.
