I have  in the past cleaned out the old rubber, and pumped the tougher grey Permatex neutral cure silicone sealant into the cavity and let it cure.

Tape the studies so they are properly aligned, allow 24 hours , and it will work like new.  I have done this with most of the command set

Stuff with good results.

This is not a critical issue for me as I do not use dynamotors with my Command sets;  Even with additional bypass capacitors and more grounding, the noise is not palatable to my ears.....
