Here's another vote for Steve's method - I've used it for many years.  Wear a full face shield over safety glasses, put some painter's tape over anything you don't want solder on.  The blast of air should coincide with the removal of the soldering iron heat.  Clean off solder spray with a pencil eraser or plastic tool - it's quite thin.
