Thank you all for the prompt feedback; I was expecting to have to wait at least a day ot two.
I have tried various size solder wick to no avail, but may have to drive over to the other house and get a larger soldering iron; 27 watts may not be enough.  I have a desoldering station, but the tip is waaaay too small to fit over the pins, I'll take a look and see if I can get one of those hand-held guys with the large Teflon tip as Mike suggested.

Have you tried a solder sucker with the Teflon tip that fits over the pin? How about solder wick?

I picked up a BC-455-B receiver that had the J1 box on the front remover with a 1/4" audio jack, potentiometer, and a switch hard-wired in. Then I picked up a partial BC-455 that had J1 still on the front, but with wires soldered to all of the pins. Has anyone been successful at removing solder from these 3mm banana pins?
