50,000 pf is .05 uf.  it would be a fairly good size cap. I',ve seen .008 uf  tubular ceramic cap /400V were about an inch long.. However, those had numeric values printed on them.
The tiny ones had the painted markings. What is the function of the cap in question? Should be a bypass or audio coupler at that value

As for that tubular component I was wondering about, it would seem that it matches the "RMA Color Code for Tubular Ceramic Dielectric Capacitors" as described in TM11-630 dated November 1944.  The Green-Black-Orange-Orange code would see to equate to 50X1000 micormicrofarads at 3% tolerance.
