Hi Bob,

It just so happens that I have finished work on  "The Pilot's Preference", the Learavian RM-402C "Beacon, Broadcast, and Airline Receiver".  Cool piece.  It's an AC-DC-Battery 3-way portable, receive-only. Has an intercom feature built in.  It was apparently made for private aircraft that had no radio built-in.  Came with a resistance line cord that had been chopped off. The 50B5 and 35W4 were series filament-fed by way of that cord.  That 85 volts was easy to come by using a tiny modern device.  Fun piece.  Had to build a loop antenna for the one that was missing.

It is about as much fun to play with as an ARC-5.

It's not ARC-5 but this is about the only place where the topic of light
aircraft radios built by ARC competitors in the 30's and 40's is
discussed.   So, if anyone has or is trying to restore HF-range aircraft
radios made by Lear Radio, please drop me an email.

Thanks and 73,
