There is a web site which will give you the precise location of the antennas of any US broadcast station . I am not copying a url because I am on my cell phone and don't know how to do it.
Many, if not most stations do not have transmitters in the city of license.

The trick to using a Broadcast frequency through an ADF receiver is knowing where that station(s) ANTENNA(s) is/are located, not what city(s) the station(n) operate in. Not knowing the actual location of the antenna or knowing exactly what station(s) you’re listening to makes the ADF set next to useless for navigation.
