The Millville NJ NDB is still in operation - RNB on 363 kHz. I picked it up tonight.

I loved listening to those NBD's on cold winter nights with my BC-453. LF was my favorite band.

Everything is oriented to the 4 quadrants and the N/S and E/W audio null crossing. When Adcock was eclipsed by true ADF, ranges were converted to carrier with AM identification. One of the last AN ranges out here in the mid-Atlantic was Millville, NJ. ADF precipitated the M, H, HH, and compass locator ground equipment. So, the venerable LF receivers were indeed NAV receivers, whether as Adcock range receivers or with the crank loop antenna.
