I wish now i had tuned in to the MF ship band back then. But what i really miss is the crazy variety of CW signals in the 8 Mcs band. Some CW notes sounding like springs, "sproingy sproing it" instead of dah diah dah dit; some notes with cruelly hard keying. Clearly no one was unduly bothered by lack of QST CW standards, and it all sounded great !
