Sometime during the Vietnam war I wandered into a surplus store in Hawthorne, CA, and there hanging on the wall was a very realistic plastic palm tree, about 3 ft tall, with a BNC connector where the roots should have been.  What was that all about?  Never seen one since or heard anything about its use.  Classified program???  Mike, W6MAB

Jimmy Horn from Seattle told me this story. He was in Navy at San Francisco and was walking by a surplus store one day. In store window he saw an APX--6. He was surprised, to say the least, because it was still in use in Navy and in fact was still rated CONFIDENTIAL. I did not get a chance to ask what year. I find the APX-6 a wonderful looking beast but totally useless to my interests.
