I have the early (6 coils) GD-1 and later (5 coils) GD-1A versions of the classic Heath dippers but prefer to use a Measurements 59 or the 59 with banana + alligator clips to grab the lower frequency Eico coils.  Frequency accuracy is pretty well guaranteed by using my Heath-Zenith SM-2420 freq counter to sniff the GDO.
