Local low power AM stations: well, but... many of these are remote controlled with mostly syndicated programming. There's a 1 kW 1230 station in Toledo, OR, a mill town abt 7 miles from me. I honestly don't know even with totally external programming they
can make a living for anyone. Maybe they can't and it's just incremental income for the owning network. Population 3500 btw. Another town abt same size, Waldport OR, the station was sold for $350k abt 10 years ago after the retired policeman who owned it couldn't
make a go of it. Now it's owned by a broadcast company here in Newport OR and same syndicated program except for occasional high school sports. I notice the local AM station has a whole lot of PSAs and those don't pay.
