That's Chernobyl oil
}
I thought PCB oil was made during WWII just for the electronics
market?
Seems to me I remember a scandal in post WWII Japan, some entrepreneur selling PCB oil to fry food in because it would not go rancid? Think this was transformer oil with PCB's ?
Don't take my word for it.
I don't think the WW2 stuff used PCBs? It was just dielectric oil.Wasn't PCB something they used in the 60's?I know when it burns it creates dioxin, that;s why they banned it.
There is a whole college building near my QTH that was abandoned due to a PCB transformer fire in the basement. Its been there with a fence around it for 20 years. Crazy!

I'm not one to be afraid of components containing dielectric oil with PCBs (Pyranol, Dykanol, Diachlor, Chlorinol, Hyvol, Interteen, Chlorextol, Askarel, etc). Like you, I try not to suck on them or use the oil for frying chicken.
But there is another reason I try not to use them. I feel there is a significant risk if there is a fire. It is my understanding that if burned, PCB oil can produce some really nasty toxins that are much worse than the PCB itself.
