My job from 1963 to 1966 was to operate all the
B-52(F) ECM systems we had at the time. What I
had was nothing
at all approaching what the later
birds had. Great advances were made in the years
after the early Vietnam war.
I believe MOST of the losses in Operation Linebacker
were of aircraft that were thrown into combat with
NONE of the then current defenses! The USAF generals
had retained nothing of what was learned from the
Ploesti and similar raids during WW II.
Those generals should have been court martialed for
criminal negligence!
