I was curious as to why the 6AQ5 was better , so I looked up the datasheets.

I'm no tube expert, but the only  difference is higher plate voltage and plate dissipation on the 5763 .The 5763 was designed specifically for class C service, while the 6AQ5 appears to be more versatile. I don't know why.

Could it be that the bias requirements of the 6AQ5 more closely match those of the original tubes?
I always thought of it as an "audio output" tube, not an RF tube, but it does have reasonable low capacitance to work in the HF region.
