At an Ohio hamfest I bought a beautiful BC-AO-430 transmitter in black wrinkle finish (from W8AU). It appears from my online research this rig was part of the SCR-183/283 system, and based on the design I'm guessing those were an earlier aircraft radio system before the SCR-274N or ARC-5 command-set systems. Is that correct?

I have the manual and schematics from my online browsing but so far I've not come across any history of the system. Can anyone point me to such resources?
