Hi Adam - I have 2 of those receiver knobs.  Have had them forever but I forget where I got them.  That link you posted is mine.  Here's a better shot on my FrankenSet:   http://www.n6cc.com/wp-content/uploads/Vintage-Field-Day-Jun06-0191.jpg

The "goober" who made them was pretty skilled IMHO, these are very nicely made, no sign of corrosion, Electronic Series notwithstanding.....  These have some pretty thick grease lube - very smooth...The "handle" even rotates on the threaded post so you don't wear your fingers down while band cruising... No numbers on it, the female ("They" ?) spline and lock knut are brass as is the handle and post.  Appears that someone made a bunch of them...I'm glad I have these 2..

Thank you all… it does work for normal use, but seems to be a civilian accessory…

Was curious as it popped up in a Swiss ground set: https://i.imgur.com/zi33EHc.jpg

I have a tuning knob on a command set that looks exactly like that one.  It clearly is a production item, but made out of easily available and workable materials.  I have always assumed that Fair Radio or some other big surplus outfit had some made up.  The real military tuning knobs are much lighter, as you might expect for an aircraft item.
